Attention New Yorkers! Awesome Sale Alert!
Lovers of real vintage and reconstructed vintage, get thee to Mulberry and Houston. You will see a sign for the Zachary's Smile "attic sale," you will go down the steps, and then you will find racks and boxes of great stuff, most things $25 and under. You may also find a very tall black drag queen in hot pants, and Manhattan moms yammering away on their cell phones, but only if you're lucky like me. I got a sweet Fifties-ish dress for $30, and a cute pencil skirt for $15. I passed on a red-and-white crochet dress that would be perfect for Santacon (because yes, I am already thinking about my Santacon outfit) because I didn't feel like feeling like a jackass trying it on. But I might go back! Recommended!

Well it is a good thing I plan on being in that area today. I will definitely check it out! Thanks for the tips, planning on seeing Detroit Cobras this weekend at McCarren Pool?
50s style is soooooo cool - all for pencil skirts and funky dresses. There's a new band over here (UK) called the Pipettes who wear matching polka-dot dresses and such like while sounding like the supremes, actually listening to them while reading your post and it just fits!
Stevie: I <3 The Pipettes -- so adorable! Why can't I join their little act?? I'd be so perf!
dude i love the take-pictures-of-self thing you've started here. can't let ms. spinach steal all the self-portrait thunder. that pencil skirt is uber cute, too. XO, leanne
Wow, I thought I was the only one who saw the tall black drag queen in hot pants! I thought maybe the musty basement air was making me hallucinate. I picked up a cute cropped blazer, a ribbon-tie camisole and a rasberry-colored wrap dress for a grand total of $55. Brilliant!
