Hayden-Harnett Really *IS* Having An Amazing Black Friday Sale WITH Free Ground Shipping!

Hayden-Harnett is being SUPREMO generous and offering lots of stuff at up 70% off WITH free shipping, plus a free gift when you purchase over $250 worth of stuff.

It's mostly on smaller accessories and stuff, but seriously, it's better than the sample sale. Check out their amazing sale on sunglass cases, coin purses, and a few amazors bags and dresses -- looks like only large sizes are left, which works just fine for me, since their stuff tends to run pretty snug.

I Heart Hayden-Harnett Handbags

Sigh. My tastes just got a little pricier.

I LUST after this Hayden-Harnett bag:

($598, Hayden-Harnett, Thepursestore.com)
Despite the fact that I'm half Israeli (fun fact!!), I'm a little hesitant to invest in a bag named "Gaza." But still... maybe I could justify it as... supporting my people? Oh wait. There are no more Jews in Gaza, silly! GAME ON! The bag will be MINE! (As soon as I find a knock-off for one-sixth of the price.) I love the pocketiness, and I like the fact that it looks like a designer bag (well, it is, duh!), but it looks sorta timeless and not too it-bag-esque. Wah. WANT! Here's one on eBay for $360, but I'm a wee bit dubious about knockoffs. I mean, if I'm gonna buy a knockoff, I'd better be DAMN sure it's a real knockoff. I want a knockoff guarantee!
(More on this beauty of a bag on The Bag Lady.)

($278, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
The Gaza Weekender. You know, for those weekend jaunts to the Strip. A great bag, to be sure, but the O.G. leather one's the real deal Holyfield.

($253, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
The Mercer bag. A true beauty. Dig that handle. Practical? Non. Pretty? Oui.

($138, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
Eeeek! Even their novelty items are deliciously darling! Can't... resist... cute... bird... stuff.

($26, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
Alfie bird clip. Y'all, his name is Alfie!!! Cuter than cute right there.

($45, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
Just try to resist the cuteness of an acorn keychain/ charm.

($28, Hayden-Harnett, Amazon)
Even their wee coin purses are adorbz. And priced reasonably as well. Huzzah!

($149, Marc by Marc Jacobs, eLuxury)
Apropos of absolutely nothing, this Marc by Marc Jacobs Quintana jersey dress is gorgeous and affordablay!

($625, Goldenbleu, ActiveEndeavors.com)
I REALLY want this Goldenbleu Jordan bag. Yeah, it's even more expensive than the Hayden-Harnett bags, but a girl's gotta dream big, right?

($72, Blumarine)
Finally, these awful shorts break just about every rule in the book. Rules that are never meant to be broken. Via V Magazine. Ew.

CRAZY WACK Hayden-Harnett Sale At Luna Boston!

Remember how I was chasing after that Hayden-Harnett Jinhee patent tote for a minute, and then it sold out RIGHT as I was about to buy it? Yeah?

Well this Hayden-Harnett Ibiza tote is on SUPER sale at Luna Boston, and it sorta reminds me of the Jinhee tote a wee bit. Anyway, seriously, it's a STEAL for a Hayden-Harnett bag.
($135, Hayden-Harnett, Lunaboston.com)
It's also massive, which is a plus. You know, because especially in this economy, more is... more!

And speaking of more, more Hayden-Harnett? Check out photos from the Hayden-Harnett Fall/ Winter 2009 presentation at the Chelsea Hotel, and get a 20% discount (for HaydenHarnett.com, not Lunaboston.com) with promo code "muse"!

DONCHA FARGET: Hayden-Harnett For TARGET Is On Sale NOW!

NOW NOW NOW! Get your Hayden-Harnett for Target bags NOW!

It looks like many of them won't ship for another several weeks, so consider this a test of patience.

I haven't seen them in person, so I can't speak to the quality (they're made of PVC, so you can probably bank on them cracking), but I'm pleased they didn't skimp on the design details -- the fun studs and hardware and excellent fabric lining.

My faves:

($39, Hayden-Harnett, Target)

($19.99, Hayden-Harnett, Target)
Peek inside for a peep at the great fabric lining!

($44.99, Hayden-Harnett, Target)
Cheyyyyyck out the fun pyramid studs on the bottom of this chain bag. Yay!

The Most Beautiful Bag Ever: Hayden-Harnett Paule Marrot Mosaique Satchel

($288, Hayden-Harnett)
She will be mine. Oh yes. In 1 -2 business days. Oh yeah, and the total is kind of a lie -- it came to $245 with tax and shipping/handling. Even better.

Originally this afternoon I saw this one:
($225, Hayden-Harnett, ActiveEndeavors.com)
... And I almost plotzed, but I ain't paying $225 for a bag I can't zip. MKHo called me a grandma, but I never carry unzippable bags -- no ways I'm rolling around NYC, opportunistically allowing someone to just a'reach in and grab my wallet, which is now nearly empty after my big-ass purchase, which I justified in the following way:
  1. I have been working my oves off lately. (A reasonable excuse for MANY indulgences, I think! It's pretty much a catch-all!)
  2. I applied almost every cent of my tax return to my credit card bill. Responsible!
  3. I sold a bunch of stuff on eBay, so it's like the bag was almost free!
  4. I'm almost 30 years old and should be carrying a nice bag, damnit.
  5. "Other people" carry far more expensive bags. You know. Because "other people" are always good to compare yourself to.
  6. It will make me happier than any inanimate object has made me in ages.
... Etc, etc ad nauseam.

Now, I do need to say this: last summer, I'd ordered a dress from Hayden-Harnett online. After, like, a month or so, it still hadn't arrived (and they ship from Brooklyn, which is also where I happen to live.) I call, and perhaps the rudest/ most incompetent employee manager person or whatever tries to tell me there's nothing they can do about it since it's out of their hands since maybe UPS fucked up, but UPS said it was delivered so they have to go with that (!!!??), blah blah, and I should just talk to my neighbors to see if they have it, and they can't refund me, so sorry. Of course, I seriousolamente cannot believe the bullshit that is being poured into my earholes, so I refuse to let it go. They then tell me they'll call UPS. A series of faxes, more bullshit, more drama. Then they tell me that I should pick a night one night during the week when I'll be home and a UPS driver is going to come to my home to "see if he remembers anything." (I know, right? Pure comedy.) I'm like uhhhhh riiiight. I'm SURE this dude's going to come to my house at 7:30 at night to "see if he remembers my front door." Sure as shootin', the guy doesn't come. I call up Hayden-Harnett again, in even more shock/ awe/ disbelief/ fury than ever before (at this point, I could care less about the dress or the $70 or whatever. I'm just pissed on principle of their flagrant violation of Customer Service 101.) I FINALLY talk to a manager man, he agrees that the whole ordeal has been most ridick. He sends out another dress AND a substantial credit. Everything's smoothed out, everything arrives with a handwritten thank you note, if my memory serves me.

So, normally I'd be like fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. But I'd like to think that the negative experience was an anomaly, that nasty woman and her evil ways and UPS drama are long gone and that this time HH will deliver like pros. Because they're truly one of my very favorite indie designers, I promote the shit out of them here on Fashionbinge, and because I'll just cry if this bag does not rule. So let's just assume it will.

Let's look again... because it's soooo pretty:

... Fingers crossed.

Hayden-Harnett Fall Winter 2009. Plus: HH Footwear Will Be Death Of Me

I stopped by the Hayden-Harnett Fall-Winter 2009 presentation at the Chelsea Hotel last night. To complement the hotel's creepy-cool vibe (at times though, the hotel felt more creepy than cool -- like 1970s kindergarten up and left for no apparent reason -- and I got hit on by some yukky dude with a dog in the lobby), the models -- arranged in tableau vivant and styled like ruffian vagabond outcasts from Sally Bowles' apartment or some other Weimar Republic-era setting mashed up with nostaglic relics from That '70s Uncle's basement -- took away a little from the clothing. (There was even one girl on the john.) Not that I wouldn't be at home in any of the dramatic shifts, geometric silky prints and deep, rich suedes, but mainly I really really, of course, loved the bags, shoes, and necklace, like the one in this shot below:

(Photo via WWD)

And the SHOES! Oh the shoes...
($240, Hayden-Harnett)
They're spring, but who cares? They're amazing.

($258, Hayden-Harnett)
Um, studs. Hi.

Of COURSE my camera died the instant I walked under the doorframe. Fail. But, Rachel from Things I Like Right Now was there and took great snaps, including one of the girl on the can. Hee!

Hayden-Harnett: The Love Affair Continues

With a $400 security-deposit check in hand from a recent vacation rental, a.k.a. free money, I headed on down to Nolita at lunch today for the Hayden-Harnett studio and warehouse sale. And, as usual with one of their sales, they give you good price! One girl (possibly from Racked?) was doing some serious reporting, using her iPhone's recording feature to take notes on the cost of seemingly every single item in the store, a practice that would seem to miss the point: shoppping! (Hope you got something, intrepid reporter!) Rest assured that although the store is small and there doesn't seem to be the volume of stuff as at previous sample sales, there are deals: wallets for $40, dresses for $70, leather bags for $100 and up. My loot:

Hayden-Harnett Athena tote, regular price $548; sale price $219. I've been coveting a gorgeous gray bag for a couple of years now, and this one fits my criteria, which is basically: big and beautiful. It has no fewer than three compartments and plenty of pockets. And the cherry on top? The lining, in the "Boudoir" print, which you might recall I bought in scarf form a while back:

My other purchase was a gorgeous, classic black tote—again with a wowee lining:

The Hayden-Harnett Athena tote, regular price $464; sale price $186. I love the large outer pocket, the rivets, and most especially the swirly lining in bright green, blue, and white. Absolutely gorgeous, and perfect for work. And these bags will last me years, maybe even "forever" as the salesgirl assured me.

I'm almost tempted to check out the selection at the Greenpoint store....

Anyone else going? If you do, let us know about your scores!

Come ON, Hayden-Harnett! As if I didn't have enough lust in my heart as it is! Now you gotta dangle some of your new $595 Zelda Zippered Cuff Boot (in Eucalyptus) in my lap while I just sit on my hands and try not to touch? A WOMAN HAS BASIC HUMAN NEEDS!

Dresses! Dresses! Dresses!

UPDATE! 20% off all Smartbargains stuff!

UPDATE 2! Hayden-Harnett sample sale!!!! Up to 80% off retail at the sample sale of Hayden-Harnett, 330 W. 38th bwn 8th & 9th; Suite 503 212.564.3720. Dress, jackets, jewelry, and bags. The Ana Frame leather bag was $325, now $150. April 10-12, 11-7.

ANYway... real creative title, huh? Anyway, here's my round-up of ADORBS dresses, as usual, many affordable, others definitely not. They're basically in order of my love for them, starting with just-a-little-crush love and ending at til-death-do-us-part-let's-get-married love.

($39, French Connection, SmartBargains)
The wrap element might create some tum issues for those of us not blessed with flat-tum genes or the willpower to do crunches. But the green is just SOOO springy, and the price, y'all, is right!

($29, Lucca, SmartBargains)
Normally this would be just a little too granola bar for me, but something attracts me to it. I actually think the nipped waist would be flattering on just about any body, and there isn't TOO much Earth mama/worry doll action and shit going on.

($79, Nicole Miller, SmartBargains)
This gorgeous silk dress would look reeeeaaaally wrong on my pasty, errr... milky white. But it's beauts, so perhaps those of you who aren't chalk white could pull off this elegant situation.

($59, IN San Francisco, Dillards.com)
I've got no fucking clue what IN San Francisco is, but I do know that I can't get enough of color block, and this dress is so classy and prettyville. And the straps are wide enough to conceal one's bra! (Hopefully). Plus, the black side panels = One-way ticket to Skinny City, USA.

($178, Betsey Johnson, Bluefly)
This would be perfect for when I have a super tan (read: never). Loves this because it's fun and flirty, and unlike a lot of Betsey Johnson dresses, it's not over-the-top draggy, sorta like Betsey herself!

($199, See By Chloe, SmartBargains)
Is this dress too cupcakey? Like in the bad way? I'm not usually a huge fan of satin, but I love the ruffly detail at the bottom of the skirt. I definitely wouldn't advocate black shoes -- some dark pink or coral ones would look fantastic though. Anyway, if you like it, get it.

($89, Nicole Miller, SmartBargains)
While I'm not convinced that the cut of this dress would flatter like, anyone, I LOVE the colors.

($443, Tsumori Chisato, Hefjina.com)
Love love love love this piece, which showed at Tsumori Chisato's S/S '07 Paris Fashion Week show, in NY, I believe. Check out the rest of the show -- soooo bold! WANT!

($109, Betsey Johnson, SmartBargains)
I so... almost... have... my... finger... on ... "BUY," but I can't for some reason. I think it's gorgeous, and I have 10120348409 weddings coming up, but there's just too much uncertainty with the online shopping aspect here. Would the crochet look trashy up close? (Possible!) Would the color wash me out (HIGHLY possible!) I love the sash and cut though. Wah.

($262, Hayden-Harnett.com)
It's slightly mysterious as to why I'm drawn to this dress, and why it's the money shot of this post. I just. Fucking. Love it. K? The solid colors are pretty bland, but the floral version (seen above) is sooooo springy and lovely. I will marry that dress (if only for tax purposes). Save-the-date cards tk.
