I Heart Pendleton Everything! + Weird '90s Flashback

I don't necessarily think Pendleton's Native American designs really flatter me, but that doesn't stop me from admiring their resurgence and their wonderfully wooly winter undertones.

Two Pendleton pieces that are on my fantasy shopping list (things I'll never buy yet would graciously accept as... you know... donations or something) are this Pendleton wool and leather weekender bag. It's so ruggedly handsome. It's like the Javier Bardem of bags, you know? But less scruffy:
($216, Pendleton, Shopepaulet.com)

From the sturdy, strapping leather details to the please-don't-get-me-all-super-dirty metal feet, to the luggage tag, I fully endorse everything about this Pendleton bag (as well as the lovely Epaulet, which you should visit in person or online.)

I ride a bike approximately once every... never. Seriously, I NEVER ride a bike. I haven't been on one since approximately 1997, and that was only for a brief moment to determine that up until then, I hadn't been on one since 1991 and since it was 1997, well, I sure as hell wasn't about to take up bike riding again. Hm. I wonder what I was wearing in 1997. Probably some really horrible "relaxed fit" DKNY jeans with zero shape. And a thrift store t-shirt that said "John Deere." And possibly a flannel.  Lovely. ANYWAY, I completely digress. If I WERE to ride a bike, Urban Outfitters' Pendleton bike (available early October) would be it.

BTW, here's me in the '90s. SO style-less that I HAD to share for the sake of comedy. Can you believe people actually COME TO ME for style advice now?!? Oh, and I'm pretty sure that was my "going out" shirt, and it was special because it was one of the sole things I owned from The Gap. I took good care to iron it. And those spoon-shaped gold sunglasses? THERE ARE NO WORDS capable of describing "the bad." I remember being CRESTFALLEN when they disappeared... Little did I know it was truly for the best. Live and learn, people. Live and learn.

Lord Help Me...

There are like 80 new colors of the Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon shoe. Or, you know, four. Same difference.

Hold me back!!

And also:

Seriously? I really want the stamp one. With the matte finish?? Hothothot!

Unfortunately I need more rubber shoes NOT.

You, though, you go 'head. Find them at Epaulet, as always.

I Bought It Files: Cheap Monday The Blanche Dress in Buffalo Plaid

($56, Cheap Monday, Karmaloop)
I bought this the other week from Epaulet in Brooklyn. I love that shop and its fantastic owners, and I love this comfy cotton Cheap Monday plaid jumper/ dress. (More jumpers I love/ want here.) Also, can I just state that Cheap Monday does everything American Apparel does but does it better and without papering enormous crotches across major urban intersections/ your browser.

Melissa + Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Heart Shoes Worn As ACTUAL Wedding Shoes!

Okay, remember how Catherine and I have written about Melissa x Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania Lady Dragon shoes (AKA "the heart shoes") like a TRILLION times, and how Catherine is even considering wearing them for her wedding? Well, LOOK at how beautiful/ awesome they are on an ACTUAL bride -- Hannah. The exquisite pix were shot by Max Wanger, who I REALLY wish lived in NYC and not California, because I can't even get over how gorgeous his images are...

($149, Melissa for Vivienne Westwood)
+ Preorder them at Epaulet or RevolveClothing.com. And thanks to FashionBinge reader Kathryn for the heart-shoes-in-action tip!

Vivienne Westwood For Melissa: Rubber Soles Go Couture!

High-end jellies aren't new news or anything -- Marc Jacobs' done them for years, and these Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon rubber heels have been around a while (abroad at least), but I love them so much, I had to share:

($149, Vivienne Westwood for Melissa)
Looks like they're a lot easier to buy in Australia, where it's probably nice enough right now to wear them... but I will get Nancy Drew on dat ass and find out how we can get our feets into them here in the States for their Spring 2009 launch!

++ UPDATE! I AM THE (female) JEWISH JAMES BOND! ++

Epaulet in Brooklyn (where Mary-Kate got her Melissa jellies) carries them in pearl:

So Amy Winehouse-meets-Betty Boop!

Beach Towel Most Foul + Cute Mocs!

So, we're off to the beach tomorrow for a whole week! I needed beach towels, so, despite the fact that it was raining like the end of days, I went to the haven of schlocky closeouts that is Conway (it's like a dollar store went on a crazy meth binge and robbed a Sears). I knew I'd find some delightfully tacky misprints, but I had NO clue I'd find something so deliciously foul... Observe:

Go ahead -- click on that shit. The dude's cut-offs are SLIDING OFF, and it looks like he stuffed a potato down what's left of them.

I bought four.

This dude's like a cross between early '80s Michael Jackson and the Unabomber. Amazing. (And speaking of bombs, please try to disregard the fact that my bedroom looks like one detonated seconds before this photo was taken. I think my room couldn't handle the gravity of the towel and shit just started flying toward the door in an attempt to escape.)

On the reals, on my way home, I also bought myself an early birthday present:
($55, Minnetonka, Epaulet)
I'd been wanting a pair of mocs for forEVER, so I stopped in Epaulet on Court Street, where MK got her Melissa + Campana rubber shoes last month. I'd wanted a white pair, but the natural flavor in the middle appealed to me the most, so I went with those. I'd been into Epaulet before, but this is the first time I'd purchased anything. I chatted with the owner, Mike, who's super nice. Great great shop -- you must go!

And speaking of go, so must I! To the gym. Gotta look HOT when draping myself across my King of Pop/ Ted Kaczynski towel. HEEE HEEE!
