Tell Me About It, Stud: My Love Affair With Studded Flats Continues

Greetings from the couch, where I'm still parked. Two iced coffees later... I think I'm starting to sprout roots, and I'm pretty sure I gave myself scoliosis just today. That Tom Petty documentary is STILL on ("Comprehensive, revealing and epic in scope..." um... yes, it all of those things). I REALLY need a shower, FYI. SOS... Anyway, I came across these studded ballet slippers today:
($48, Capezio, Bonadrag.com)
They're cool but a little too literal and look pretty uncomfy. They did remind me of how much I love pyramid studs though, especially when they're used in unexpected ways, like with a pair of pretty pink ballet slippers.

Some more studded flats:
($425, Loeffler Randall, Active Endeavors)
Gorgeous, but I'd love them far more without the ankle strappage.

($88, Theory Shoes, Shopbop)
Sorry, but these are repulsive.

($211, Maloles, Zappos Couture)
So elegant.

($59, Jessica Simpson, ShoeMall.com)
Eeek. Cognitive dissonance issues -- cute shoes but they're Jessica Simpson! What to do? What to do?

($50, Calypso)
Cheaper, though only available in sizes 6 and 11.

($174, Kenneth Cole, Endless.com)
Not cheap, but sizes for all!

($12.99, BCOutlet.com)
Only available in size 7, but cheap!

($12.99, GoJane)
Cheapy Mccheap!

($29, Adi Misbehave, Overstock)
Lotsa colors, but the black ones are safest, don't you think?

($12.99, Go Jane)
Eek. Is it bad that I like these?

($41, Matiko, 6pm.com)
Not bad. But I don't understand the idea of the name "6pm." Anyway...

($41, Michael Kors, Overstock)
Pretty, preppy, punk-y! Only left in size 8. Yay if you're an 8, boo if you're not.

($287, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Net-a-porter.com)
I do believe these are the Marc Jacobs studded ballet flats that started it all. Brightest Young Things show you how to make your own!

($126, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Saks Fifth Avenue)
These Marc by Marc Jacobs studded flats, however, are unforgivable.

Finally, you (and by "you," I mean "I") also need some pyramid stud earrings:
($88, Wendy Nichol, Ravinstyle.com)
NEED!

($72, Argento Vivo, Bluefly)
Sophisticado.

($39, Whats That Cat, Etsy)
Etsy seller Whats That Cat has really sweet handmade pyramid stud earrings with sparklies. They're made of polymer clay and look really cool.

($20, Michelle Chang Jewelry, Etsy)
Super cuties sterling silver pyramid stud earrings from Etsy seller Michelle Chang Jewelry. Very much want!

At Last! My Studded Converse HAVE ARRIVED!

After YEARS of sweating Bess' studded Converse -- but feeling the obvious and understandable resistance to shelling out like three bills for them -- I tracked down an amazing Etsy seller who did 'em for less than half. Check out CustomStudded on Etsy -- Jennifer is a DOLL, and she'll design your studded shoes according to the stud of your choosing: You pick the stud color/ style and the shoes. I happened to send her a brand-new pair of Converse. Oh, and it was a super-quick turnaround, too. Like, two days!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sleep in these bbs.

I Bought It Files: Pade Vavra Cat Stud Earrings, Other Stuff I'm Wearing In A Weddng This Weekend

($138, Pade Vavre, BlueLuxe.com)
Oops. Accidentally bought these: 22KT gold plated cat stud earrings with sapphire eyeballs. I may or may not wear them to the wedding I'm in this weekend. I WILL not, however, wear them with THIS belt, if I wear it at/ in the wedding:

($136, Moss Mills)
I got it on sale at Epaulet. (Remember when I was losing my mind over this Moss Mills horse bracelet? And, speaking of horses, RIP TRAGIC FLORIDA HORSES!)

BTW, the dress I'm wearing in the wedding is...
... A Christiane Celle fuchsia satin dress -- the bride found it for me on eBay for a song! Can you BELIEVE how great that is! I actually factually WILL wear this again. And I'm wearing these vintage gold heels from Olive's Very Vintage in Brooklyn -- Gorgeous, perfectly curated and preserved dresses, skirts, tops, shoes and jewelry. Definitely vintage and not thrift. you should go. It's great.

That's new kitty, Sim. I adopted her from Beauty Blogging Junkie's Amber! BTW, this completely out-of-sequence, highly unedited post brought to you by Gruner Veltliner!1!!

Frye Studded Out EVERYTHING For Fall

Frye clearly set their stud guns to infinity for their Fall/ Winter 2012 collection, because everything is truly, unapologetically studded up. Motorcycle boots, ankle boots, sneakers, saddle bags, clutches. If it's leather, Frye studded it out with vigor. As if that hadn't sold me hard enough, their F/W collection is unabashedly distressed and duressed (which is a cool word I made up).

Freshly scrubbed Tory Burch types, fear not: Frye's got delicate, perfectly tailored classic riding boots done right. But if, like me, you've been described as "delicate" approximately zero times in your life, you'll probably fall hard for the gravel-road-meets-Gotham, rode-hard, knicked-and-kicked appeal of Frye's new collection.

One of my Frye favorites -- a knee-high boot that stretches to fit those of us with calves the size of jumbo grapefruits. (For some reason, I have calves like I'm a member of the Italian national soccer team. The men's team, unfortunately.)

Done. The greatest motorcycle boots ever created. I can die now.

FashionBinge Lust/ Must: Studded Mocs

($266, Bess, Oak)
Normally I'd be all over these pyramid-studded suede mocs, but a.) they're outta my price rangeage, b.) they're for guys, c.) they're from Bess, which is the kinda Soho store you walk into and you're like only Cokey stylists shop here. And then you leave really quickly.

+ More pix at WilliamYan
+ More pyramid stud stuff here.

Steve Madden Revenu Shooties!

($129.95, Steve Madden, Nordstrom)
'Sup, stud? True, these Steve Madden Revenu heels are CRAZY high, but I like the gradient effect and the possible homage to studded heels past by, I'm guessing, Giuseppe Zanotti, Fendi, or Balmain. WANTS!

Non-Pukey Pumps & Purses... And... An FB PARTY!

In the spirit of alliteration AND our new banner -- HELLLOOOO!!?? Are you hearting it or what? -- in which the little puppy is yakking on fashion cliches, (if we really need to spell things out for you), here are some super fun shoes and bags that don't make me want to barf.

The party we'll get to at the end of the post, class.

First, some super fun party heels by Betsey Johnson:

($76, Betsey Johnson, Overstock.com)
Usually satin makes me want to run screaming in horror, but in the case of these Kipp Satin d'Orsay pumps, it makes them look a hint less silly and slutty. Though only a hint, of course.

($94, Betsey Johnson, Overstock.com)
These Betsey Johnson Yori wedges are fun too. Barbie-ish, yes, for sure, but who cares? I'd totes wear the black ones with some cigarette pants and a silk scarflette tied around my neck for maximus "Tell me about it, stud" Sandy Dombrowski appeal.

($46, J.Lo, Overstock.com)
I don't even think I'm sorry that I broke my own no-J.Lo rule for these fun, hookerish heels!

($249, Donald Pliner, Solestruck.com)
Now these gorgeous strappy heels look like something J.Lo herself might actually wear. What's not to love about suede and raffia? Well, actually, there's plenty not to love, but in this case, it actually works.

($364, Delman, Solestruck.com)
Aren't these just delightfully '40-ish, minus the War?

($159, Kenzie, Shoes.com)
Finally, Kenzie redeems itself after previous Irregular Choice-like missteps. I'm not usually crazy about that sorta relief situation that the heel's got going on, but here I don't really mind it.

($35, Sugar, Cutesyshoes.com)
Yep, these wedges are absurd, but it's hard for me to resist adorable crustaceans, so here they are in their tacky glory, just WAITING to be worn to a picnic, preferrably while lounging on one of those cool 1950s backyard swings, if you know what I mean.

Kay. Now for the bags:

($417, Marni, Yoox.com)
This briefcase-style lite eggplant Marni bag is gorgeous but it's quite autumnal, so it'll have to wait til then. And til I have $400 to blow on a bag. So, in other words, it'll have to wait forever.

Next, so I was browsing some shops in the BK the other day, and I discovered some interesting synthetic handbags by Big Buddha. Unforch, the site hasn't been updated in a hot minute, but I found some elsewhere that I really like. They're super affordable, and in person, the synthetic material is unbelievably soft and leatherlike.

($74, Big Buddha, eBags.com)
This is the Jenny bag, and it's gorgeous in black. It also comes in orange, which I love:

And while the brown looks nice, I fear the blue looks waaaaay too much like denim. At least online anyway.

($68, Big Buddha, eBags.com)
I also like the Small Ranger Bag, which is quite great in other iterations, which include black, brown and green.

Big Buddha's not all posies and gumdrops though, as a black cloud befell my discovery when I happened upon these bags I absolutely did NOT heart, but, as my mom always said: you're not always gonna like everyone. Errr... it went something like that, anyway.

OKAY.

Now for the party news...

You know all of those amazing, ridiculous mini skirts, slutty pumps, outlandishly humungo bangles and crap that you buy thinking, SOMEDAY I'll have something to wear this to... Well bust that shit out NOW, because you're gonna need it next Friday.

Because...

Fashionbinge is turning 1!

That's right. It's our Very Important Blogiversary Party, and we're having it Friday, May 25 at Angels & Kings in the East Village (which is in New York). And YOU need to be there.

While I'm fairly sure Pete Wentz will NOT be there, MK and I will be doing it up (thanks, booze!) with drink specials, a DJ who also happens to live with me and sweetly collect my numerous packages from the UPS guy, cooks for me and tells me honestly when my outfits suck (i.e. NEVER) before I go to work in the morning, AND, most importantly RAD door prizes by some of our flaverflaves, including:

Yak Pak

Le Tigre

Modcloth.com

Threadless.com

Campfire Goods

Stewart + Brown

Sublime Stitching

Girls Can Tell

Niphty

Bozack80

Mua Purses

Super, supremo best. LQQK for a cooler invite soon, k?

Okay, now it's beddybyebye time so I can get my beauty sleep and wake up renewed and ready to post more crap I say I shouldn't buy but will probably end up caving in a few weeks (max) and buying anyway. Toodles, poodles!!

This Alexander Wang Stud Print Dress Is Making Me Sad

($968.78, Alexander Wang, Brownsfashion)
... Sad because we'll never be together, and because the print reminds of me SO many things I hold so dearly to my heart -- studs, crossword puzzles, and online Tetris knock-off games, such as Bejeweled. Ugh. We were so meant to be together, this Alexander Wang dress and me.

Great. Now I have that Jewel song stuck in my head.

Sam Edelman's Spiked Lorissa Shoe Will Cut You

($209, Sam Edelman, Solestruck.com)
So, Sam Edelman's stud-covered Lorissa heels are hurting me real bad... in the real-good way. The kinda bad Fiona Apple meant when she was sloshing around in that hot tub back in 1997. That's it. Sam Edelman's studded heels = the Fiona Apple of footwear.

($209, Sam Edelman, Solestruck.com)
And the close-toed Yuma? Seriously? I'm 'bout it 'bout it.

(And PS: This is totally my all-time favorite karaoke song.)

New Tournaire Engagement Rings

Check out these brand-new super-architectural (obviously), thoroughly modern-paradoxically-ancient-accented engagement rings by Phillipe Tournaire. They're inspired by the first-ever engagement rings from the Merovingian dynasty, which sounds cool because no one cut their hair.

And instead of a bloody bloody blood diamond, you get the loaded-with symbolic structural imagery of a united couple's new home and family. They're 18K gold, and if you simply MUST have a diamond, you can do that too. They start at $1,100, which isn't so bad for a really cool alt- engagement ring, you know? Jews, you should dig it too because they've got a very Jerusalem/ Havdallah spice box vibe too. And if you just like trends (guilty), the second ring is basically a glorified pyramid stud. Win!

Tell Me About It, Stud: Cuffs, Bracelets & Bangles

I so wuv/ want these studded and jeweled bracelets:

($80, Hayden-Harnett)
Best of the bunch. It doesn't have that annoying air of "OMG! I ALSO OWN A BLACK RAMONES T-SHIRT BECAUSE I VERY MUCH WOULD LIKE TO LOOK 'PUNK'" sorta look that I SOOO hate.

($22, Asos.com)
Love the brown-and-gold '70s color combo.

An enjoyable Donatella Versace vibe (about the only time you'll see the words "enjoyable" and "Donatella" used alongside each other in such harmony.)

($198, CC Skye, Boutiquetoyou.com)
I'm still uncertain whether this sucks or not. I definitely like their slimmer cuffs much better. Thoughts? Comment it.

($45, Shopintuition.com)
BTW, this is fucking terrible. As much as I love zeppolis, it looks like something you'd see for sale at the San Gennaro festival or something alongside those personalized airbrushed license plate covers or fiber optic light-up flashlight things. Horbs.
